A special control operation called “Ramadan control”

To allow Muslims and all consumers to spend the month of Ramadan in peace, the ministry in charge of trade has initiated a special operation to control the prices and quality of consumer products.

Soon we will go into the blessed month of Ramadan. It is a month of high consumption. Consumer products in our country are price-regulated products. In this respect, as demand will explode, certainly during the month of Ramadan, the temptation is great for certain actors either to create a kind of shortage whose final objective is to increase prices abnormally. “, noted the Minister in charge of trade, Abdoulaye Tall.

However, he clarified that the government prices date from December 31, 2021 and that negotiations are underway with SN SOSUCO to determine the new price.

Regarding the price control operation, Seydou Zanga Sesouma welcomed the initiative. For him, this practice reassures the consumer.

In times of shortage, each country barricades itself and only exports the surplus of its production.

Also, the SOCOM group store reassured of the availability and respect of prices for this period of Ramadan. Boukare OuedraogoCEO of SOCOM Group, claimed that Ramadan is a month of grace. For him, failing to reduce the price he does not plan to make increases during Ramadan.

In addition, traders have raised the issue of price increases at SN SOSUCO. The Minister reassured that discussions are underway with the company to determine a price that protects the consumer and suits the company.

We have a dual role to play, how to protect the industrial fabric. You have to be realistic when the partners pose the problems. We must look at them objectively and see how to protect the Burkinabè consumer who is already sufficiently tested “said the Minister.

As a reminder, at each period of mass consumption demand, the ministry organizes price control operations.
